Email Correspondence with Hosana Barbosa

I’m just following up on the phone call that we just had regarding the grievance process.


At first, you denied receiving an email from Matthew Pyne. When provided the date and time, you were able to find it. You started reading it while I was on the phone and reported, “this is a threat, he is threatening me.” I asked why you were saying that, and you replied, “he said lease violation; this is a threat.” You then asked, “the threat is not going to stop?” Afterward, you said, “thank you for your call” and hung up. (JERAMY: I hung up because all communications needed to be documented, and voice calls couldn't be.)


Since you hung up, I was unable to talk to you and fulfill the purpose of my call, so I’m sending this follow-up email.


We would like to know your intentions regarding the grievance process at Pine Street Inn. (ME: Job losses, that was my intention.) You have already met with 2 supervisors, Andrea and Shaun, and 1 Associate Director, Mike Jones. If you wish to continue with the grievance process, the next step would be a Grievance Committee Hearing. You will need to prepare your presentation, for which PSI will provide a staff liaison to support you if necessary.


The Committee will consist of: 


1) an uninvolved staff member;  

2) a guest, program participant, trainee, client, or tenant;  

3) and the Program Director of the program identified in the grievance.


The Committee will provide a written decision to you within 3 business days of the hearing. The committee’s decision is final.


Please let me know how you want to proceed.


(JERAMY: How does this NOT come across as threatening? Bold-faced FINAL, a lengthy process to delay until you figure out how to screw me; in hindsight, that's exactly what happened. This wasn’t to set up a meeting for a clerical issue; I caught several of their employees lying about a racist event that never happened! To suggest that you want to talk about lease violations first, in addition to a massive racism scandal, is exactly that; it’s meant to intimidate me.)
